A London juridical authority in 2001 censured the lawyer who helped prepare the Governor’s case against Justice Priya Levers, barring him from practising for three months for a courtroom assault.
Cayman Net News has learned that Benjamin Aina, legal advisor to H.E the Governor Stuart Jack, was suspended over the incident.
Describing it as a “very serious matter”, London’s Council of Inns of Court suspended Mr Aina for three months, barring him from “all enjoyment of all rights and privileges as a member of the honourable Society of Lincoln Inn” after he assaulted opposing council Francis Laird during a drugs case in Croydon.
Mr Aina, who admitted hitting Mr Laird, blamed it on stress, while the council conceded that he had worked hard and in the past “provided excellent testimonials”.
