Government Bows To "Justice" Alex Henderson

Bowing down here is Commissioneer of Police James Smith doing it all as a New comissioneer of Police with not even a month on duties as yet...

Both the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service and the governor’s Special Police Investigation team have apologised formally to Grand Court Justice Alexander Henderson for his unlawful September arrest.

At the same time, the court set a February date to start an inquiry for damages to Judge Henderson’s reputation and future earnings, a sum that could run into millions of dollars, while the Solicitor General has agreed to pay the Justice’s court costs.

The developments came during last Tuesday’s (23 December) closing of visiting UK Judge Sir Peter Cresswell’s two-day judicial review, which overturned Justice Henderson’s 24 September arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office, and elicited the surprise apology. A previous Judge Cresswell review in mid-October overturned the investigation team’s searches of Mr Henderson’s South Sound home and Kirk House office. Read More
